ZeroTrust AntiCheat - Origins, Vision, and What's Next

How ZeroTrust evolved from a lean Lua codebase to a modern cloud panel with forensic PC scanning and a philosophy that puts precision first. The only FiveM anticheat you'll ever need.

How it all started

ZeroTrust AntiCheat has been around for a while, quietly protecting FiveM communities with a lean, 100% Lua codebase. What we didn't have-until recently-was a cloud panel. That changed when we kicked off web development in June 2025: Doom led the frontend, and Flo owned the backend.

Over the following months we iterated hard, threw out a few versions, and rebuilt what didn't meet the bar. After four months of work, the vision crystallized into something we're proud to share: ZeroTrust with a modern cloud panel and a product philosophy that puts precision first.

The vision: "The only anticheat you'll ever need"

That's a bold line, so here's what it means to us:

  • Do what hasn't been done in FiveM anticheats-or bring rare ideas into an anticheat where they truly belong.
  • Favor signal over noise. We'd rather have fewer, higher‑quality detections than flood servers with false positives.
  • Build for the long run. The panel and the Lua core are designed to evolve without breaking your workflow.

What's new in ZeroTrust

1) Built‑in Forensic PC Scanner (PC Checking Tool)

ZeroTrust introduces a forensic PC scanner integrated directly into the anticheat. The goal is to give server owners actionable insights when they need them most-inside the same environment where detections originate-so investigations are faster, clearer, and tied to in‑game events.

Why this matters

Bringing forensic context alongside detections reduces guesswork and shortens the path from suspicion to resolution.

If you're wondering what we mean by a "forensic PC scanner": it's a manual, server‑initiated PC checking tool that analyzes system‑level artifacts to surface relevant traces (e.g., logs, suspicious processes, loader remnants, and other indicators). We built it because no FiveM anticheat is perfect for every server-each one runs different scripts and configurations, so false positives can happen. The scanner gives staff a controlled way to validate suspicions and confirm (or clear) a player by reviewing evidence beyond raw detection events, all inside the ZeroTrust panel where admins already review incidents and players.

Cross‑server scan results (Finder System)

Unlike most scanners where an administrator‑initiated PC check is only visible to the server that ran it, ZeroTrust records a pass/fail summary in our Finder System. That way, authorized admins on other servers can see whether a player previously passed or failed a manual check. This reduces duplicated work across communities and gives staff clearer context before taking action.

Our philosophy: quality over quantity

We'll be blunt-we currently have fewer detections than some tools on the market. That's intentional. We're focused on quality, accuracy, and low false‑positive rates. Nothing burns trust faster than punishing legit players. We ship detections when they're robust, reproducible, and observable.

From concept to cloud panel

The panel went through multiple iterations before we landed on the current design. We kept what worked, rewrote what didn't, and trimmed anything that added friction. That's how we got from "should we even build a panel?" to "this is the control center we've wanted all along."

Designing the Players page: from sketches to ship

We spent a lot of time getting the Players page right-sorting, filtering, staff visibility, and at‑a‑glance status needed to feel effortless. The evolution from concept to final product tells the story of our iterative design process.

The Evolution: Version 1 - Initial Concept: Simple grid layout with basic player cards showing initials, IDs, and online status. Clean but lacked the depth needed for serious moderation. Version 2 - Status Integration: Added status badges for "Possible Alt," "Possible Cheater," and "Investigating" with color-coded visual indicators. Introduced one-click action buttons. Version 3 - Enhanced Workflow: Refined the card design with better visual hierarchy, improved status indicators, and clearer action buttons. Added filtering toggles at the top. Version 4 - Final Polish: Current production version with country flags, latency indicators, comprehensive status badges, and streamlined workflow for efficient player management.

  • Sorting & filters: A–Z / Z–A, *Staff first*, and quick toggles for Only Staff, Online, and server‑specific staff counts
  • Status badges: clear labels for Possible Alt, Possible Cheater, and Investigating so staff can triage fast
  • One‑click actions: *Set Investigating* / *Remove Investigating* live on the card to minimize page hops
  • Visual clarity: subtle glows and outlines highlight cards with active states without overwhelming the grid
  • Enhanced context: Country flags and latency indicators provide additional player context
  • Multi-status support: Players can have multiple status indicators simultaneously for complex cases
